From their new album Gossamer, Passion Pit offer up the first single release “Take a Walk” today. The track seems to resonate with Passion Pit’s breakthrough 2009 LP Manners particularly in relation to synth style and beat patterns. Frontman Michael Angelako spoke of their upcoming album stating “on Gossamer there is more of a dichotomy between the lyrics and the music, you hear my lyrics more precisely which is something I was ready for. The lyrics on this album have a lot to say about what the last two years of my life have been troubled with.” Gossamer is set for release on July 24 on Columbia Records. Kelly Pratt, recently introducing himself as Bright Moments, has dropped off his debut LP Natives, which features the original version of on-hand single "Tourists." The respected instrumentalist now sees Passion Pit drummer Nate Donmoyer, aka Shuttle, hopping onto the track, reworking it to his liking. Check it out below.

Tokyo Police Club are currently preparing their new project, 10 Songs, 10 Hours, 10 Years, which finds the band covering ten tracks, each from one of the last 10 years, releasing a song a day for ten days. Here comes their version of Jimmy Eat World’s classic tune “Sweetness,” featuring Passion Pit frontman Michael Angelakos. The 2011 comeback of the Beastie Boys has only just begun, but it's certainly gotten people excited. And even though the rap group's newest single, "Make Some Noise," just released this past Wednesday, the remixes are already flowing out. It appears that Massachusetts band Passion Pit is the first act to jump the gun and put its own spin on the track, taking it from its classic Beastie sound to an electro-pop odyssey. If you like what you hear, check out the interesting remix they did to "Grenade" by Bruno Mars back in February as well.

"Mine is Yours" is the classic record from Long Beach's Cold War Kids and today it receives the honorary remix treatment courtesy of Passion Pit. As you'll notice, Passion Pit manage to add their own unique flavor to the song, and craft it into an epic pop version. Meanwhile, the forthcoming album from the Cold War Kids' Mine Is Yours is due out on January 25th via Downtown.

As part of American Express’s new holiday campaign for ZNYC, Passion Pit was amongst one of the featured indie bands to provide brand new tunes for the campaign. Entitled "All These Trees," the jingle is a Christmas themed with shades of electro pop. Cuts from The Antlers and Andrew Bird are also expected on the campaign, stay tuned!

Boston ensemble Passion Pit have a long and respected history in reinterpreting tunes from other artists, thus it is only right that the favor is returned. On that note Michael Cheever, also known as Le Chev, turns in his refix of Passion Pit's "Sleepyhead". The remix impresses with a clever usage of "Genius Of Love" by Tom Tom Club. In true Passion Pit fashion, the Bostonian ambassadors of Electropop take on The Ting Tings' hit "Hands" which has grown into an underground favorite within the past weeks. Here's the duo's scoop on the original version:

"We toured the world for two years and enjoyed every minute of it, but we kind of pushed ourselves a little hard. [The tour] ended around Christmas, and I got really exhausted and really ill, and [drummer/producer] Jules [De Martino] was very exhausted as well. In January, we went to Berlin and 'Hands' was the first song we wrote. We were so tired and in complete shock about what had happened to us for two years. And everybody we knew -- friends and family, and people we loved and cared about -- they had a really tough year or two while we were traveling. So ['Hands'] was a kind of shout out to those people that we care about.' - Vocalist/guitarist Katie White
