Converse concludes its 3 Artists. 1 Song-series with “All Summer” – the announced collaborative track between KiD CuDi, Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij & Bethany Cosentino from Best Coast. The third and final installment of Converse’s 3 Artists. 1 Song-series featuring Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij. Here’s the scoop on the video:
“Rostam Batmanglij is a member of one of today’s most influential bands, Vampire Weekend,” said Geoff Cottrill, Chief Marketing Officer of Converse. “The band single handedly made the path for DIY artists that followed in their footsteps, and it is his leadership that Rostam brought to the table – both in creation of the track and in producing it. It’s thrilling to watch an artist apart from their normal musical realm and his talent and originality were a key element to creating the song.”
This film is the final installment in a series of three short films being released in anticipation of the song’s release, featuring each of the musicians (Best Coast debuted on 6/22, Kid Cudi debuted 6/24). It follows Rostam, multi-instrumentalist for seminal indie-band Vampire Weekend as he gives a glimpse into the life as an artist living in Brooklyn, NY, a borough bursting with creativity and known for being the original stomping ground for many of today’s celebrated bands. The film also offers a sneak-peak at the creation of the new soon-to-be-released collaborative single, which was produced by Rostam himself.
Here comes the KiD CuDi-centric episode of Converse’s 3 Artists. 1 Song-series featuring Bethany Cosentino, Cudder and Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend. Offered footage has been shown a month ago for the brand’s “You’re It”-series. However, it is still worth checking out. Here’s a more detailed description of the ongoing project:
This summer, Converse further activates its commitment to being a catalyst for creativity by bringing together three extraordinary musicians from different genres to form a unique collaboration known as Three Artists. One Song. The nucleus of this initiative is a brand new, all original track featuring Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast, Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend and Kid Cudi that will be released this July and available to music fans globally via free download at converse.com and authorized Converse websites around the world. In addition to collaborating on the track, each of the artists also participated in the creation of the music video, which will be released later this summer.
In anticipation of the song’s release, each artist is also featured in a short film, with the second installment exploring Kid Cudi’s life, and the influences that make him one of today’s most pioneering artists. The film captures Cudi exploring his native Cleveland and provides a unique look into his artistic journey.
Maintaining a strong connection with the music world, Converse is set to premiere a new song and video featuring Best Coast, Kid Cudi, and Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij next month. This will serve as a follow-up to the Julian Casablancas/Pharrell/Santigold Converse song from a few years ago. In anticipation of this release the footwear giant will present three interviews with the respective artists. Offered is the first installment featuring Bethany from Best Coast:
We teamed up with Best Coast in this short film, showcasing the band’s first European tour and discussing lead singer Bethany Cosentino’s west coast, warm weather inspirations.
Converse’s new campaign “Your’re it” highlights 23 unique and creative artists from around the world in a series of web shorts. The campaign featured artists form 13 different countries including Kid Cudi. In this short, Converse takes a trip back to Cudi’s roots as an artist in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. The campaign’s goal was to tap into the grassroots of Converse’s global market and introduce the artists of tomorrow.
