It was no coincidence that Animal Collective surprised us with two new tracks recently. The band has now officially announced the follow up to 2009′s Merriweather Post Pavilion by posting a video on their website. The viral states Centipede Hz will be released in September via Domino Records. Although it is subject to speculation at this point, the clip shows a number of potential song titles, like “Moonjock,” “Today’s Supernatural,” “Rosie Oh,” “Applesauce,” “Wide Eyed,” “Father Time,” “New Town Burnout,” “Monkey Riches,” “Mercury Man,” “Pulleys” and “Amanita.” Listen to two new Animal Collective songs, "Honeycomb" and "Gotham," here.

New material from Animal Collective. The Baltimore-born, NYC-based collective has just posted two brand new songs on their website, respectively titled "Honeycomb" and "Gotham." Both tracks will be featured on 7" single package to released on June 26 via Domino. Listen to both cuts above.

Last night's episode of The Simpsons featured music from both Animal Collective and Hot Chip. Hot Chip's "Boy From School" can be heard during the clip above, while Animal Collective's "Winter's Love" was also noted during the program. After checking the featured footage, we think you'll agree that the musical backdrop basically fits to perfection. Did you catch the episode last night?

Animal Collective was one of many bands that contributed a project to this year's Record Store Day. The band released the Transverse Temporal Gyrus LP two years after performing the piece at NYC’s Guggenheim Museum. The 12" will include the initial sounds and songs each member recorded before being put through a randomizer at the museum, as well as pieces of live recordings from that evening. Psychedelic NY-based band Animal Collective recently revealed to Madison.com that they are indeed working on a new LP. Having recently spent two weeks of writing in their native Baltimore, Maryland, the quartet virtually completed five tracks with an added ten in the works. They are slated to begin laying down the project in January, as we all eagerly await the outcome.

In conjunction with the upcoming All Tomorrow's Parties festival taking place, the fellas of Animal Collective have put together the followup mixtape to set things off properly, as they will be curators of the event. All the songs derive from artists which they chose to play at the festival, which is set to take place from May 13-15 at Butlins Holiday Centre in Minehead, UK. Check out the full mix below!

Famed director Spike Jonze has enlisted the talents of Animal Collective, Sleigh Bells, Girls among others for the soundtrack of his short film I'm Here. However, the project will contain previously-released records from the participating artists. You can watch the robotic love story here while anticipating the official release of the soundtrack which will happen October 5th via Chocolate Industries. In anticipation of tomorrow's DVD-release of ODDSAC, the cinematic collaboration between Animal Collective and director Danny Perez, comes an audible taste from the group. The visual album is an experimental film featuring psychedelic visual and took two years in the making. This project will be released on iTunes and DVD via Plexifilm.
