drake weekly set Hypetraks Weekly Set Volume 1

Welcome to the first edition of Hypetrak’s Weekly Set. From this week on we will present you every monday the top selection of your favorite tracks from the past seven days. As you probably have noticed, the site’s been back for a minute now. Certain elements of the site are still in development but if you have followed our input during the last two weeks you might have a good idea of what we are trying to reach with this medium. We at Hypetrak set the goal to provide our readers with a proper selection of all latest music that contributes to our culture – unbiased and not limited to a single genre. Below you will find ten songs that gained the most play from you last week. Feel free to share your thoughts on the respective tracks with us.

Off we go with our first set. It is barely surprising that Young Money’s golden child Drake tops the list with his-long-awaited official single “Over” off his upcoming debut album “Thank Me Later”. It was not the radio cut people expected it to be but it made people talking and you listening. Second in line is aspiring Floridian rhymesayer Laws who took our readers by storm with his J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League-powered cut “Run Away”. Always a favorite among our readers KiD CuDi caught the attention as his frequent collaborator Dot Da Genius unpacked “Know Why” – an unreleased record previously entitled “The Message”. Trey Songz’ take on the notorious beat for Gucci Mane’s smash single “Lemonade” drew interest as well. The crooner proved that his vocals sounded better over the hyped instrumental than some rappers. We also have to give credit for Fabolous and Nickie Minaj who also graced Bangladesh’s beat with some verses for the money. Further notable efforts were provided by retro soul boy wonder Mayer Hawthorne of whom we keep saying that he is destined for big things in the future, ATLien B.O.B who offered a nice audible pairing with upcoming big shot J.Cole. We also have Ed Banger Rookie Boy 8-Bit showing why he is a valuable addition to the team and a dope Scandinavian version of Massachusetts-based electro music submitted by up and comers Steed Lord. Enjoy.
