Trillwave is the newest mixtape from Chicago duo The Hood Internet. While their ongoing mixtape series has been built around genre-blending party starters, Trillwave is the soundtrack to the party after the afterparty or maybe to a sun-drenched backyard barbecue the next day. If you’re still clueless to who The Hood internet are, these dudes make “The Best Mash-Ups This Side of the Web.” So go freshen up, download Trillwave, cop some Bacardi and get this party started.

Welcome to the second edition of Hypetrak’s Weekly Sets. Again we listened to plenty of new and interesting releases that made us look and talking. Let us begin with Electro duo MGMT that finally released their long-awaited single “Flash Delirium” off their upcoming album “Congratulations”. Fans quickly took notice that the group has altered their style for this campaign and expressed their discontent instantly. To the surprise of many, Ben Goldwasser felt the urge to apologize for their experimental approach. Last tuesday marked the 13th anniversay of Biggie’s death and luckily it did not lack any tribute records. One in particular drew your interest. Cinematographer Kenzo Digital came through with “The Eulogy” that features vocals of arguably three of Hip Hop’s greatest ever, The Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z and Nas and reminded us how dope a collaboration like this would have been. Taking spot number three and freshly released from prison T.I. came back to the game with a furious bang via his Trackslayerz-blessed cut “I’m Back”. Female group The Bangz’ offered their rendition of Lil’ Wayne’s Rebirth-cut “Runnin’” thus indicating their musical versatility. Further notable efforts were delivered by French duo Jamaica and Zombie went electro mastermind Kavinsky, whose excellent track “Nightcall” received a royal remix treatment by Ed Banger’s own Breakbot. Teasing die-hard fans with another taste of their upcoming Wu-Massacre album Meth, Ghost and Rae caught your ear with “Youngstown Heis”. Wale showed you what a true NBA-motivation song is supposed to sound like whereas Idris Elba convinced naysayers that actors can also make decent recording artists. Electro lovers among you also appreciated the hypnotic track “Sun” by Canadian producer Caribou. Enjoy this weekly recap.
