M.I.A. and Zayn Malik (or ZAYN) have collaborated for a new record. Entitled "Freedun," the song is set to appear on M.I.A.'s forthcoming studio album A.I.M. M.I.A. herself revealed the news during a new interview for Entertainment Weekly, where she shared the following regarding the backstory behind "Freedun":
"We have the same publishers and they wanted me to demo some songs for Zayn. Before I started writing properly my own stuff [for A.I.M.], I was thinking maybe I’ll write for other people instead. I really wanted to write a song for Zayn….We had a couple people in common. And that’s how it came about. I didn’t really approach him for my own record until later on. First, I thought I wanted to try writing a song for him.”
Besides Zayn, we have already learned that M.I.A. also has a collaboration with Diplo on her new album. Recently, she's also dropped a joint single with Skrillex, "Go Off." M.I.A's next (and possibly last) studio album will arrive on September 9.
