Earlier tonight, Pharrell Williams was presented his 2015 "Fashion Icon" award by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). The accolade has been given to past influencers such as Rihanna and Johnny Depp, and its criteria is definied as "an individual whose style has made a significant impact on popular culture on an international stage." Pharrell is undoubtedly worthy of the prestigious distinction, having had immensely successful collaborations with Timberland, Uniqlo, Moncler, adidas and more.
The award was presented by Pharrell's close friend and frequent collaborator, Kanye West. A powerful style icon himself, West spoke of his admiration of Pharrell, describing his own style as an angrier version of the N*E*R*D member.
As he accepted his award, Williams displayed an incredible amount of humility, paying respects to his style influences such has director Harmony Korine's "Gummo" and W Magazine style director Edward Enniful, before reminding audiences that "[he's] not a style icon, [he's] just inspired." However, prestigious fashion designer and CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg believes otherwise, stating "If cool was a person, it would be Pharrell." Enjoy the photos below.
