As the race for supremacy tightens between streaming services giant Spotify and Jay Z’s newborn TIDAL, many initiatives are being taken to better the reception of each company. Wall Street Journal documents Spotify’s latest decision to enter the web video business in order to take higher ground. The streaming service has already been in talks with YouTube about possible partnerships, not to mention propositioning co-created video series or acquiring pre-existing content, which Tidal has already embarked upon. Though little is known about the exiting plan or success of Spotify’s foray into web video, the service is hosting a media event on May 20 in New York that will likely shed more light on the situation. Stay tuned as this develops.
