Pharrell is the executive producer and Diddy is the co-executive producer. With Forest Whitaker, Zoë Kravitz, Tony Revolori, Blake Anderson, A$AP Rocky, Chanel Iman, Vince Staples and Casey Veggies’ involvement in addition to rumored cameos from other members of the A$AP Mob and Joey Bada$$, could it realistically be anything but, well, Dope?
From Brown Sugar and Our Family Wedding, Rick Famuyiwa is the film's director. Dope’s star Malcom (Shameik Moore) is your quintessential backpacker hip-hop nerd with an affinity for the '90s. The trailer, released today, show him and his ‘cooler than they realize’ geek team making impressive academic moves while coming very close to crossing that line of getting too involved in their Inglewood, Cali neighborhood activities.
Dope is set to hit theaters this summer, June 19 and will feature new music from Pharrell as well.
