Has Dr. Dre Confirmed the Beats Sale to Apple?

Last night reports from multiple sources arrived that Apple is about to acquire Beats Electronics for $3.2 billion. While speculation has been ongoing on whether this deal will come to frution or not, Beats co-founder and hip-hop mogul Dr. Dre was already busy celebrating in the studio as can be seen in a video posted on actor Tyrese Gibson's Facebook page. While Gibson indicates that the "Forbes list needs to be changed," Dre himself refers as "the first billionaire in hip-hop." Watch the short clip above and judge for yourself and also make sure to read our conversation with Beats president and COO Luke Wood and Dre himself back in 2013.

UPDATE: It seems things are not "officially official" just yet as Tyrese has pulled the video from his Facebook page.

pretty sure beats is over half of the market share for high range headphones so buying it for 3.2bil isnt a bad idea considering thats fuck all money for apple

  • maikel

but when is he dropping Detox?

  • Detox soon

Should see light of day now. They were holding it off cause Beats were more profitable than music for Dre, if the album flopped then headphone sales would have crashed too. If its none of their concern any more its whatever

    wouldnt have thought.

  • Detox soon

Unlikely but nobodies taking that risk when 3.2 billion is involved. Specially when a record would turn over at most maybe a couple mil.
