Last weekend, the artist formerly known as Mos Def, Yasiin Bey, has per The Shrine in Chicago last weekend. The famed emcee put this opportunity to good use and debuted “The Light Is Not Afraid of the Dark” which was intended for his 2006 offering True Magic. The location for its premiere could not be a better one since the beat has been crafted by Chi-Town's very own Kanye West. Check it out above!

    I really love that's he's doing the all-white/red mic thing. Not enough artists think about their image in terms of iconography. This track sounds amazing too.

    I'm not sure the mic means anything, it's just a dope mic. The all white thing could be more significant.

    i mean i think all great artists become iconic regardless of if theyre trying. that's the mark of a great artist...for example, john lennon's glasses are extremely iconic, but he definitely wasn't thinking "let me find some iconic glasses".
