Beaches – Distance
By Arthur Bray / Alternative, Music / March 12, 2013 / 1015 Views

Melbourne's Beaches has released "Distance" for our listening pleasure -- a dreamy riff-heavy lullaby  that's spawned out in carefree directions, similar to the landscape of their hometown. Taken from the forthcoming LP She Beats due to drop on May 3 via Chapter Music, the dreamy composition here is accentuated by left-field chords and distant vocal repetitions echoing "I wanna go faster." Hypnotic to any road-loving enthusiast who holds an acoustic close, "Distance" odes of psychedelia and momentous grunge. Elsewhere, bohemian tones blend fluently with lo-fi guitar strings which at times see an overlay of sturdy, decisive chords -- a harmonious contribution courtesy of Michael Rother, a former member of legendary krautrock group Kraftwerk.
