Warner Bros. Strikes Deal with Mad Decent for Distribution of Baauer’s “Harlem Shake”
By Arthur Bray / News / February 27, 2013 / 1206 Views

Following from the continuous onslaught of viral tantrums from Baauer's popular "Harlem Shake" visuals, we receive news that the Mad Decent single will now also be distributed via Warner Bros. across a number of platforms. Aside from PSY's "Gangnam Style" sensation in recent times, "Harlem Shake" was the first to climb charts from YouTube streaming data being included in multiple Billboard and Nielsen platforms.

As an otherwise fairly unknown producer, Baauer has capitalized on his success in the digital era, quickly topping charts with his addictive bass-driven club track, in huge part thanks to the spreading of the online meme. While the meme continues to spread like wildfire, those in the Harlem community don't seem too impressed with the fad. Check here for their reaction.

I think this makes a great platform not just for Baauer, but for Mad Decent as a whole, lots of underplayed artist there who need a break, this may just be the stepping stone to do so.

Gangnam style drove fuckin crazy last year .... now this garbage ...... fuckkkkkkkkk

Mad Decent has to be one of the corniest labels around.... They're like the MMG of EDM/Hipster music ....

  • SHUTTYY

I LOVE MAD DECENT. SO SHUT UP. NAME A BETTER "HIPSTER" LABEL THATS MOSTLY DANCE MUSIC AND SOME OTHER SHIT.

It's just good for exposure, isn't BBNG and Danny Brown on that label, and I think some other artists I like, this'll give them good exposure, there are far worse labels, like the ones you mentioned who are less creative and over paid.

Lol Danny Brown is on Fools gold homie, and dude above is buggin'. First and foremost the label was created by Diplo. So, it has Major Lazer/Diplo, The Crookers, Dillon Francis, Zeds Dead, and motherfuckin' Rusko. Some big names, but they all deserve the credibility they have. Only dude i'll really call lame on that label is Riff Raff. I don't think I need to back that one up.

Agreed. I don't know how I feel about that 3 Amigos stuff with Riff Raff, but Diplo deserves all the praise that has been given to him.
