Harlem Reacts to the YouTube Harlem Shake Meme

In recent times Baauer's undeniable trap anthem "Harlem Shake" seems to have taken a new visual form, one that veers far from the original Harlem Shake in a series of capricious memes. Whilst providing much comical relief for any web-crawling video fanatic, the Harlem community doesn't seem too happy with its latest interpretation. “That’s West 4th street dancing.. nobody in Harlem would do that!” says a man from uptown 125th street. With commentary from an array of local residents displaying skepticism, followed by a tutorial of how the real shake is performed,  this five-minute clip displays the juxtaposed opinions from the Harlem community on the viral fad started by five teenagers from Queensland, Australia.

    If you think Baauer is to blame for any of this, you're a straightup asshole. He's a guy, FROM FUCKING NEW YORK MIGHT I ADD, that made a catchy song using inspiration from a cultural idea, but ultimately is just a catchy fucking song.
