André 3000 Says Big Boi Remixes Are Not OutKast Collaborations

While they may not exactly be beefing, they're still seemingly not working on any new OutKast material. And in going a step further, one-half of the duo, André 3000, recently disclosed that the pair of forthcoming tracks that will feature both himself and Big Boi are not at all OutKast collaborations.

It's important for me to be clear about the origins of my contributions to 'Pink Matter' and 'Sorry.' I was approached as a solo artist by both Frank Ocean & Tip. I discussed musical direction with each artist and completed my verses. It was after that when Big Boi's name came up.

So while we will be getting some new material featuring the legendary pair, again, it has nothing to do with the OutKast name. Three Stacks went on to say:

I never want to mislead our audience - I worried that some would think these were Outkast collaborations. These songs are not Outkast collaborations. I discussed this rationale with Big, Frank and T.I. and everyone agreed. That is why I was surprised to read about these remixes. I understand that anyone can put out an unofficial remix to any song but I have an obligation to be honest with fans about what this is … and what it isn't.

Are these two done making music together, as OutKast, for good?

I dunno why they arent working together.
Big Boi has done some stellar shit lately, and 3K has always been on point.

I don't really care tbh. I only want André to make more music, like as much as possible.

  • really

why can't andre just drop a solo album already then?

  • tittieboy

it doesnt meant outkast isnt back, it just means if they do come back its not in this way. Musically speaking its probably not what he wanted as the new OUTKAST shit.

I mean for real… I feel like an Outkast album is the only chance of hearing an album worth of content from Dre because the last time we heard it was on an Outkast album, even though they were like separate projects. Though I appreciate his contribution to Outkast, I'm not fond of Big Boi. I'd rather hear Dre, however Big Boi seems to be the only one of the two dedicated to the practice of making music which is a huge let down. Just a word from another disappointed Outkast fan.

I think a lot of people are taking 3000's comments the wrong way, but before the onslaught I will say, to each his own. I don't think he means these remarks as a negative at all, but rather that these are remixes done separate of the duo going in on the track together. It's not a bad thing, it's just the truth. Andre and Big Boi didn't sit down in the studio and lay down their respective verses for these songs and intend them to be heard as "Outkast" on the remix, and so be it. It was each artist contributing in their own right. Keep the faith, and in the meantime appreciate the remixes for what they are.

xyz featuring Andre 3000 & Big Boi works just as good for me

Two words. LABEL ISSUES. simple as that. The two now have to tip toe around being featured on the same track and everybody and there mother calling it OUTKAST. OUTKAST will come back one day, I am sure there is plenty of material, but until there label stops holding them hostage it might be AWHILE. SHESH YOU THINK HYPETRAK WOULD BE HIP TO THIS BUT INSTEAD THEY FUEL THE FIRE BY SPECULATING AND TITLING. HYPETRAK=HORRIBLE JOURNALISM
