Ryan Leslie Reacts To Laptop Verdict During Performance at Long Island University

We recently shared with you Ryan Leslie's unfortunate verdict ruling over his recovered laptop, and during his performance at Long Island University, R. Les went on to share thoughts on the situation.

As you may or may not know – in 2010, somebody stole all my music from me out the back of a black Mercedes-Benz when I was in Cologne, Germany. Initially I put a reward of $20,000 if they’d just give my backpack back – and when it never returned, I upped the reward to $1 million because that music was absolutely everything to me, it was everything, it was my life, it was everything, I upped it to $1 million.

Eventually, somebody did actually return my backpack to me – and when I plugged in that hard drive to access everything that I had lost, the music just wasn’t there. The hard drive wouldn’t mount. I couldn’t access anything – and a year later, that same gentleman (I don’t know if it’s because he misunderstood what the million dollars was for) … he filed a lawsuit in Federal Court in New York City, demanding that I pay $1 million for music that I never got back.

Leslie would then go on to shed some tears over the fact that his court case made the cover story for the New York Post, calling talented musician a "Rap Weasel." Following his onstage vent, he went on to perform an appropriately modified version of his single "5 Minute Freshen Up," repeating the line, "Don't believe everything you read in the f***in' news/ Cuz these haters would really prefer to see you lose" and going on to burn a copy of the paper. Check it out up above and leave your thoughts down below.

Ha you would be surprised how many musicians cant keep a working laptop let alone one that is properly backed up. Honestly they spend all their time working on their respective craft and learning computers is just a means to an end. They learn just as much as their time can handle. Its kind of sad actually with all the professional studios closing artists are more and more having to become techs and engineers because everyone thinks doing everything on your laptop is easy and cheaper. Some peoples minds aren't built for learning technology; engineering in itself requires years of training and experience.

  • sure

if you had potential to be more of something wouldn't try or is getting cheeto dust out of your keyboard a life goal

  • A.K

  • Sean

    Dat sh*t cray.

  • Jayjay

How are you trying to be in the rap game when you're crying about a mil? Lol straight up ain't meant to be balling

  • J__S

Don't worry Ryan Leslie someone will def pay a mil for that burned newspaper, since it's now technically considered 'celebrity memorabilia'.

It was the external hard drive that got stolen. That's what the reward was really for.

  • Charlemagne

In defending Leslie you came across as more of a douche than me, seeing as you honestly have no idea who I am. But that's besides the point. I was actually referring to how corny his music usually is, not the amount work he puts in.

  • PIGSONMYKNEES

lool guy went all emo over a hard drive. corniest shit ever!

  • sure2

Then make it clear sir i don't care about looking like a douche even in real life hence why i have so few friends. when you type something you must make it clear the keyboard not have an implication setting what you implied is not what you wrote i'm not sorry for what i typed because i don't know who you are if i knew i could make a truthful statement but i don't so i stick to what i find to be the norm when it comes to people over the internet who have something negative. so your move cheeto dust
