If you're a fan of British trio Daughter, you've probably heard the band's two superb EPs, His Young Heart and The Wild Youth. And if you've been following the movement long enough, you may have also caught wind of several demo songs that surfaced before either of the aforementioned. Amongst them was "Run," a touching acoustic ballad performed by singer-songwriter and musician Elena Tonra, who was the sole member of Daughter at the time. Since then, she and her bandmates Igor and Remi have cultivated their own unique sound and become renowned worldwide for performing it. So, it's only right that they took Tonra's affecting lyrics for "Run" and redistributed them over a musical backdrop that better fits the sonic brand they have created. This new version of the song maintains an acoustic lead, but also incorporates powerful drums and ethereal sounds that take it into different territory than the original. "Run" is available now on iTunes as the B-side of Daughter's debut U.S. single on Glassnote Records, "Smother." To accompany the release, the band is embarking on its first American tour next week.
