Lupe Fiasco – Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1 (Album Cover)

With the visuals for his single "B*tch Bad" releasing today, we bring you more news from Chicago emcee Lupe Fiasco. Surfacing online today is the cover art for Lu's upcoming album Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1, and as a bit of a surprise the cover will be simply all black. When the news of Lupe's next two singles hit the internet, the album cover was first revealed, but it wasn't sure at the time if the featured art was just serving as a filler. With official pre-orders on the upcoming album being made available today, it's now official the blacked-out cover is actually going to be the artwork chosen for the new project. Food & Liquor II will be available September 25, and you can place your pre-order now by clicking here. Let us know your thoughts on the album cover down below.

it's like, how much more black could this be? and the answer is none. none more black.

Apparently this has been done before by the artist Prince and its purpose was: "the work seemed to be a reaction to criticism that Prince had become too pop-oriented. It was his attempt to regain his African-American audience." Coincidence?

I've lost respect for Lupe. After his ordeal with Atlantic Records everything Lupe does just feels like an attempt to get people's attention and this is no exception.

  • Pretty sure anything an artist does is to get people's attention. Most artists like their work to be viewed by as many people possible.

When you think about it, blackness is a description of infinite. Like something that is ongoing, something that never ends, it's artistic interpretation....Or it's simply, listen to what I'm saying, fuck everything else....bring in some coffee...black!

This guy's been trying so hard lately.

I disagree. He does'nt need to do that because ever since he came out his music has geared towards the black plight and issues amongst them, hence the title "Food & Liquor" which is prevalent in inner city impoverished black communities across america. I fill this is more of a blank statement to the industry...not blank as in empty...but raw and unhindered as to what the message of the music will contain.

I thought Hypetrak chose not to put the image in so we'd have to click the story. Then I clicked the story and thought they forgot to put the image in. Then I read the story.

Right now I think all that was too funny to care whether I think this is a good choice or not.

I think the beatles' white album might be his inspiration for this art

I agree with you, but I was thinking that it could be more of he's trying to get his fans back after his disappointing Lasers album. Just like Prince was trying to do with his album...
