Singer and late ’80s icon Neneh Cherry is experiencing a successful comeback to the music scene due to her collaborative project with Scandinavian jazz ensemble The Thing, aptly titled The Cherry Thing. The piece marks Cherry's first release since 1996 and will be out in roughly two weeks and consists mainly of covers from electronic punk duo Suicide, English vocalist and songwriter Martina Topley-Bird, hard-rock band The Stooges, DOOM, as well as some original compositions. Certainly an interesting and eclectic record that is worth your while, so make sure to stream it over at NPR. The Cherry Thing is out June 19 via Smalltown Supersound.
