Pete Rock & Lupe Fiasco Make Amends

Pete Rock's reaction to the sample work on Lupe Fiasco's new single “Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free)“ has been the talk of the past 48 hours. Now, both men seem to have reconciled via phone last night as a couple of tweets indicate.

"Shout to the Friends&Family for bringing some internal closure to this...all g on this side Pete...Big Chuck whaddup... #MyGodFoRealListen"

Pete Rock:

"I just got off da phone lupe, we worked out our differences and we bout to get it in. Gonna be epic and we gonna give Troy and hev the proper respect they deserve and make history with lupe."

All is well that ends well.

    go find a sample. one that will resonate with people. then figure out how to isolate and record this sample into a usable bit or phrase of sound. then combine it with other samples and original drum programming, mixing, mastering, and potentially live instrumentation and somehow make these disparate elements come together to form a recognizable song. then maybe you'd respect the art of sampling.

    dude im a producer, i've made sampled beats. no matter how nice you chop up the sample and "make it yours"  the music at its core is not yours. no matter how much you eq, compress or whatever.
