As an avid fan of the Beastie Boys, Mick Boogie honors the group's induction into the Rock Hall of Hame with his latest mixtape project Grand Royal. For its artwork, the famed producer teamed up with renowned photographer Jonathan Mannion, who has worked with the likes of Jay-Z, Eminem, Aaliyah, Nas and more, to re-shoot the iconic cover from the Beastie’s 1989 classic Paul’s Boutique. The featured video, shot by Sasha and Roman of the amazing CNNCTD+ team, follows both men to the famous LES location where Paul’s Boutique was originally photographed and captures the live energy of the photo shoot. Grand Royal arrives on April 20, and is influenced by Mick Boogie’s three favorite Beastie Boys albums Paul’s Boutique, Check Your Head and Ill Communication. The mix contains remixes, rarities, outtakes, demos and live versions. Stay tuned.
