It is no surprise that in this digital age of downloading piracy and mass record store closures, album sales have hit a 12-year low. According to Music Week, album sales were a mere 1,446,218 a week ago, down 27.62% and the lowest since the new millennium. However, there is still some hope, as artist are now turning their attention toward selling singles; those sales have steadily increased compared to last year.

maybe the artists who make music for money will opt out of the game and that will leave us just the artists who are in it for the love of music!

I dont know why the record industry try to ignore all the revenue theyre getting from people buying the tracks online

  • RIAA is lying!

The record industry will continue to blame its problems on piracy to deflect from the fact that they helped put record stores out of business by selling to Best Buy, WalMart, Target, etc. at huge discounts that the record stores had no chance of being able to match. New record sales are a big deal for stores and the big box stores undercut the indie stores for long enough to kill their business. Now the big stores could care less about music.

exactly but, the Labels are still making money off downloads, and digital sales, the booking agency get's a percentage, the manager, the press agency, producer if there song is played live, so yeah the artist see's some chips but not as many as you think.
