A little over a year ago, Frank Ocean took the music world by storm when he released his debut project, nostalgia, ULTRA. The critically lauded mixtape was filled with samples from the likes of Coldplay, Mr. Hudson and The Eagles, but it also featured production by renowned hit-maker Tricky Stewart and a lesser-known talent by the name of T-Wiz. And just as Ocean—who was initially known as a songwriter and occasional singer by the name of Lonny Breaux—broke out of his shell with nostalgia to showcase his abilities as a full-on artist, T-Wiz has positioned himself to garner attention as more than just a beatmaker. The producer/musician also happens to be a singer/rapper/songwriter who is going by the name Troy NōKA. He's released a few songs and videos over the past few months, but after a buzz-making performance at The FADER Fort at SXSW last week, NōKA felt it was the right time to release his debut album. The LP, Free Dreaming, can be downloaded for free over at The FADER and can be streamed below as one continuous track. Will it cause the same amount of stir that nostalgia, ULTRA. did? Only time will tell. Regardless, it's availability is certainly a step in the right direction. Leave your thoughts below.
