D-WHY featuring Belle & Sebastian – I Want The World To Stop
By Richard Brooks / Tracks / February 15, 2012 / 1623 Views

On Monday, February 27, MTV will premiere the Venice, Italy-set music video to D-WHY's "Macchiato Music," the T-Minus-produced debut single from his upcoming long-awaited mixtape, Don't Flatter Yourself. But two weeks is too long for fans to wait for new material from the West Virginia-raised, New York City and Los Angeles-based recording artist. Since yesterday was Valentine's Day, D felt it was only right to spread some love to the fans. To hold them over until "Macchiato Music" makes its big debut, he's released a brand new track, entitled "I Want The World To Stop." The song is his own spin on indie band Belle & Sebastian's track by the same name.

Currently, D-WHY is working on Don't Flatter Yourself, which is set to to feature production from Hit-Boy, T-Minus, Boi-1da and Dot Da Genius, and guest appearances from the likes of Diggy Simmons. In addition, his lifestyle website, The Cleanest Corner, will be going live sometime in the next couple of weeks. Check out his latest track below and keep your eye out for future releases.

Just another upper middle class dude that wants to live a life of fame and luckily has a bloated budget.  I've been paying attention to this dude for a while now and everything about him is manufactured.

  • Hollabacktslack

    Mediocre at best.

  • RapGenius

What's that smell?? Oh it's a hater! Go find something to do besides hating on someone doing what they're passionate about. Douche!

  • theartoffacts

As someone whose actually been "paying attention to this dude for a while now" you clearly know nothing about him. Stop hating just for the sake of hating.

LOLWUT... DWhy is manufactured?  If you don't like the music then say so or move along, don't make ridiculous statements.

  • Byahbyahbyahbyah

Okay, I'll make it clear that I don't like his music.  I don't like his music.

Doesn't change the fact that this guy had to move from West Virginia and spend stupid money on studio time, exclusive production, videos and god knows what else, to put out what will amount to a creatively mediocre project speaking about the plight of a well off West Virginia graduate and having a couple generic party songs.

  • ncsquared

this doesn't sound like a "generic party song" to me...far from it. good lyrics and overall sounds pretty good imo

  • Mick Rouse

I don't really know much about this dude, but isn't that what just about every recording artist has to do, especially up and comers? Spend a bunch of money on studio time and producers? Nothing is free.

Odd Future is a prime example of kids who used creativity and hard work rather than financial means to make their dreams happen.  What I'm saying is, a lot of artists like D-WHY come out with these bloated budgets but aren't very creative and end up sounding the same as so many people before them.  Instead, they should chill and buy their own mic and some mixing equipment (stuff is very affordable now) and just record all the time and develop their own sound and style.

  • RDot

What will surprise you all is this guy doesn't have a bloated budget but a tea, and supporters that believe in his ability.  That's it.  Words of advice:  If your passionate about something, do it with all your heart.  At some point in time someone will take notice and help you.

  • mountied

you obviosly don't know D-WHY's story. the guy writes all of his own songs, dresses himself (no stylist), directs his own videos, has a good friend who does his cover arts, a bro who takes most of his pictures, and he has a good education himself that he got on scholarship for being smart. i don't get what you mean about "creativity and hard work" because what hes done and doing seems to add up to just that...oh and he doesn't have a so called bloated budget either. dont be the hater/ rumor spreader who speaks on someone's financial situation or life when you dont know anything about it. he has support from people because they believe in him, not because of money

  • Byahbyahbyahbyah

Because a venice, italy set music video with no label backing isn't a sign of having money...  Just stop man.

  • Bradsb9

LOL! Can't believe we have some serious D-WHY haters. Such a sad world, but they will come around. No worries! Stay tuned for Feb 27th.."Macchiato Music" produced by T-MINUS coming very soon.

  • Hollabacktslack

D-Why won't make it. Straight up.. sorry to break it to you.

  • UraDA

Maybe you didn't realize, but there was NO set. It was all shot on a DSLR. Props for attempting to look knowledgeable though.
