In a time where pirating music has become more prevalent then purchasing it, Drake's Take Care album remains the top selling hip-hop LP after nine weeks on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The Toronto native's sophomore album sold 31,700 copies this week adding to a grand total of 1,320,600 albums sold. Hip-hop heavyweights Jay-Z and Kanye West hold a spot at number 26 for their duo album, Watch the Throne, selling 1,261,000 units after 23 weeks on the charts. Common, who's recently taken to the mic in a dispute with Drake sits at number 50 for his album, The Dreamer/The Believer, which rose four spots to number 38 this week, selling a total of 106,100 records.

  • Jeidenskyler

all these dumbasses r one track minded when it comes to hip hop. their definition of "hip hop" is old school hip hop. or some shit like that. hip hop in music is a flow of poetry recited to a beat. DRAKE IS HIP HOP yall dumb bitch ass motherfuckers.

  • jf_kennedy

You're an idiot. Common doesn't define hip-hop in its entirety. Only you 'real hip-hop' fans want to put that shit in a small ass box. Drake is hip-hop, like it or not.

    It'z Drizzy Baby...

  • Mr Suede

There is a difference between Hip-Hop & Rap...just like Rock & Heavy Metal....Jazz & Blues... If you let the way "people"(awards shows/record labels/iTunes ect.)  categorize music for you then you shit out of luck because they do it for space and simplifying purposes and i don't have that much time and typing space to explain it to your dumb ass

  • jf_kennedy

The only differences between hip-hop and rap are the fact that there are elitists who don't want there to be someone like Drake in their group. That (hip-hop/rap) shit sounds nice on a blog, but in reality hip-hop is an all encompassing genre, with sub-genres.

Drake's been hip-hop ever since I first listened to him, on tracks with Phonte and Elzhi, but just because he's gone platinum and harmonizes on some hooks he's no longer that? Gtfo. Explain that to yourself.

  • Grillz

    Ive never seen him wear

grillz. Is he really hip hop? Hmmm....
