Earlier this week, poetic and literary icon Maya Angelou went on record with the New York Post to express her disappointment over the use of the N-word by Common on the track she features on – “The Believer.” Common came on BET’s 106 & Park to address the issue and Angelou partakes in clearing matters up by phoning into the show to talk with the rapper and the show’s hosts Rocsi and Terrence Jenkins. Com also offered some words to his situation with Drake (see more here). The Dreamer/The Believer is out now.

Dissappointed, surprised, upset, whatever it may be, I dont think any of us should be surprised by that.

The woman is 84 years old. Using the 'N' word holds so much more meaning to her than it ever would for the most of Commons demographic. I don't understand why everyone is so invested.

    Regardless, that track is amazing.
Got a nice Dilla feel, too!
