Dr. Dre to take a break from music
by Petar Kujundzic / News / November 15, 2011 / 1964 Views

Barely a surprising announcement that reaches us today. Famed hip-hop producer Dr. Dre revealed that he is planning to take a brief break from recording, once again delaying his long-awaited album. As told to FADER TV:

“I’m gonna just wrap it up for a minute because I’ve been working on music for 27 years now and the longest I’ve ever been out of the studio in 27 years has been two weeks.“I’m never gonna stop music. It’s like air to me,” he added. “I’m gonna take a little bit of a break, enjoy some time with the family, until I get that itch to get back in.”

Given the circumstances it is more likely that the Doc will dedicate himself more to his other ventures, such as Beats by Dr. Dre headphones and working on developing his artists Slim the Mobster and Kendrick Lamar. Share your thoughts with us below.

Damn Dre. I was looking forward to hearing Detox.
Hey the man has paid his dues and made enough money in music to say. Fuxx it I'm going to fall back for a minute. What can you really say to a guy that has done everything, 10x over that most music producer will never get a chance to do. NWA, SNOOP DOGG, CHRONIC, CHRONIC 2001 and all the other artist careers he has helped along the way. Let that Old Man rest.

It's understandable that one needs to take a break from whatever business one's in, but it didn't feel like Dre was still in the music business to me.

Sure his collaboration with Beats was a real success, but it's been 10 years since his last musical success 2001. "I Need a Doctor" was a really disappointing joke, and Detox is and will remain a fantasy.

better take a break then bring out that ''i need a doctor'' bullshit

  • J TEE

    maybe he needs a doctor?

Yea, you may be correct with this. The material that leaked off the alleged album was nothing to get hyped over. After a while, you just lose your fan base when you bullshit with your album the way it seems like he's doing.

It's not called a "break" anymore. When he decides to make music, those are the breaks from taking breaks.

I can't blame that guy, Chronic 2001 was, in my honest opinion one of the top 10 best rap albums of all time, and I totally understand the pressure he behind this album because lets face it, IT'S DR. FUCKING DRE!!!!

The article doesn't mention that his break started in 1999
