Shakira, who's made a living through dance-pop hits, is now joining the Obama administration to become part of the president's Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, alongside three others. Shakira has said to have been an activist during her music career on education reform. Here's what President Obama had to say:
“I am grateful that these impressive individuals have chosen to dedicate their talents to serving the American people at this important time for our country," Obama said. "I look forward to working with them in the months and years ahead."
