J. Cole’s debut tops album charts

J. Cole's debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story, has topped this week's album charts with an estimated 217,825 copies sold. According to SoundScan, the number stems from 93,174 digital units sold whereas 124,651 physical copies were purchased. This also means that the album is the highest solo hip-hop debut this year. Cole did not hesitate to express his appreciation for this support.

So many people to stunt on, fighting the urge to be spiteful. This moment is too important for that. Just want to say THANK YOU.

Thanks to yall, we shook the game up. No chart topping single, just 2 years of hard work, great music and real ass fans. #1 album. Thanks to every fan that held me down, every friend, every blog, magazine, tv, radio station, dj’s and pd’s, I feel like we ALL won

I was a little shaky on the #s but I have to stop paying attention to the media. I forgot that his shows were packed and underestimated his following. #goodform to Cole.

    I agree, man.

I'm a Cole fan and bought the album, but I didn't think he would pull numbers like this.

Nice to see a real artist getting some well deserved recognition.

The Warm Up should of been the first album.  But this shows real hip hop is still alive!
