Tyler, the Creator Wins Best New Artist VMA

Tyler, the Creator's dream has come true. The OFWGKTA general caused quite a stir at the MTV Video Music Awards when he managed to win the award for the Best New Artist with "Yonkers." After a big hug from his mother, Tyler rushed the stage to nab his statue from presenters Taylor Lautner and Selena Gomez. Joined by his group, Odd Future, the artist offered an excited, yet expletive-laden acceptance speech.

"Yo, I'm excited as f--- right now, yo," he said. "I wanted this sh-- since I was nine. I'm about to cry. This is for my little brother Earl [Sweatshirt]. He's not here right now. I really can't believe I'm here right now. I didn't write a thank you speech. I don't know. F---. To all the kids watching, you can do this sh--. Thank you."

Tyler tops the likes of Kreayshawn, Big Sean, Foster the People and Wiz Khalifa as best new artist. Congratulations. See the full list of last night's winners below.

I actually think Tyler is the only one who really deserved it, I'm mean I not a huge fan but he really is an artist. He makes his own beats, album covers, writes lyrics, does clothing and stays true to what he believes in. You can hate him all you want, but you won't come past the fact that he is a proper artist. I respect him and OddFuture for what they do.

foster the people shoulda won. dem niggas write they own music, make they own beats, dem fool ass niggas actually play instruments. and lots of em. they music is more original if you listen to the chord progressions. they can create melody. all that shit man. but they go un-notices cause they aint got no dirty raunchy gimmik. that fool tyler, he cool, but they more talented.

I agree that Foster the People are a great band but this is the VMAs, so direction is taken into great consideration when determining a winner, if this was just some award show about the music alone then FTP or even Wiz may have won. We all know the music portion is great otherwise they wouldn't be there but direction wise Tyler's was more visually artistic and pleasing and he led the direction of his own vid which most artist now days will hire a director and ask for he/she to interpret their own visuals. FTP has more talent and uses more actual instruments yes but again that has nothing to do with the direction and visual aspect of the video. I'm not even a Tyler fan but after watching interviews and reading articles I respect the OF hustle and he deserved this one far more than anyone else nominated.

I really though overhyped black & yellow would win, I couldn't go an hour without hearing that shit on the radio for months. I'm actually happy people realize a real artist when they see one who the fuck writes his own music, makes his own beats, and directs his own videos
