By Matt Morris / TV / August 3, 2011 / 810 Views

Over the past few months, 32-year-old New England native Merrill Garbus, who goes by the stage name tUnE-yArDs, has been gaining a good amount of exposure for her soulful, funky, avant-garde experimental music. Back in April her critically acclaimed sophomore album, w h o k i l l, was released on British indie label 4AD. To increase the promotional push for it, Garbus made her U.S. national TV debut last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Complete with her own live band, she drummed, sang and looped her way through an impressive rendition of her song "Gangsta," which can be found on w h o k i l l. Check out the performance below, and look out for Black Thought's verse at the end!
