Ghostface Killah sues Universal Music Group

Regarding legal issues, Ghostface Killah is facing tumultuous times. While fending off a lawsuit brought by a Hollywood composer Jack Urbont who objects the unlawful sample usage "The Iron Man Theme," which Urbont wrote for the 1960s TV show The Marvel Super-Heroes for his 2000 album Supreme Clientele, Ghost is filing a lawsuit against Universal Music Group in order to collect full royalties for his work as a member of the Wu-Tang Clan. The rapper claims that UMG only owns 25% of the copyright to Wu-Tang's songs, not the 50% that the company claims it owns.

This is not the first time that Killah has taken legal measures with claims on being stiffed on royalties. In 2005, he sued Wu-Tang Productions and its leader, RZA after he received smaller-than-expected royalty payments. In 2009, Killah got the judgment he aimed for when a New York judge held that Wu-Tang Productions wasn't entitled to a 25% withholding and RZA wasn't entitled to a 50% withholding for contributing the beats.
