Arguably one of the most underrated producers, James Dewitt Yancey, known to the music world as J Dilla, has left a legacy behind him that is hard to compare. As one of the most influential hip-hop artists, he contributed everlasting beat work for prominent acts like A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes and Common. Unfortunately, the Detroit native suffered from thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, a rare blood disease, and possibly lupus. J Dilla died on Feb. 10, 2006, three days after his 32nd birthday and the release of his final album Donuts. Today would have marked his 37th birthday. On this occasion, the Hypetrak team would like to commemorate his legacy by posting one of his strongest beats - "Fall In Love" by Slum Village. Rest in peace.
