I think this will be the first post in a while that I have written about an Indie band that isn’t from Brooklyn. Yes, they do exist (I was surprised too). Portugal. The Man is a group from Wasilla, Alaska. Their 3rd studio album entitled Censored Colors is scheduled for release on Sept. 16th but like all albums these days, it leaked early. Censored Colors is a beautiful soundscape. The songs incorporate more avant-garde compositional structures while using classical harmonies and guitar progressions to create a unique experimental rock record. Sounding like The Beatles on some tracks and hearing guitar riffs heavier then Metallica on others, Portugal. The Man combines an interesting group of genres. They are currently touring in support of the album and plan to release a video for the track ‘All Mine’ soon. Posted below is the opening track off the record entitled ‘Lay Me Back Down’
