Several years ago, when what is now known as Hipster-Rap was commonly referred to as Underground Hip-Hop, a group called Slum Village reigned supreme. Led by the legendary J-Dilla, (who would eventually leave), the group went through a change when new member Elzhi hit the scene. Immediately Elzhi was both hated and loved. He replaced Dilla so core Village fans may have shunned him at first but true heads recognized Elzhi for adding what many fans say was missing in the Slum equation…lyrics!! I heard Nas had a similar concept record that didn’t make Untitled, here Elzhi pulls it off!
